As of tonight, it's been a month since I've had alcohol. 

Considering how whiskey had been my go-to for decompression, depression, grieving, relaxation, socialization, and inspiration...for about nine years, as a major development post-Katrina (albeit, having played a more minor role, prior to Katrina)...

That's a good thing. Not that this is the first time I've abstained for any amount of time, no, but this is the first time with the ardent intention of continued abstinence. 

Monday will make for three weeks without a cigarette, too. 

And two weeks on the new diet.

My pulse is 73 bpm, right now. For years, every time I'd checked it at a resting rate, it was in the mid-high 90s. 

I personally have never had the motivation nor the commitment to accomplish these things, before.
